ASSISTANT MANAGER

THE ROLE

Assistant Manager required for soon-to- open independent tapas bar in Altrincham Market Quarter.

Porta is a tapas bar owned and operated by restaurateur brothers Joe and Ben Wright. The original Porta was opened in Chester in 2012 next door to their Michelin ‘Bib Gourmand’ restaurant, ‘Joseph Benjamin’.

Working alongside owners Ben & Joe, and the Restaurant Manager, you will be involved in the launch of the new restaurant, establishing systems & procedures and managing the premises in the manager’s absence.

We are looking for a front-of- house professional with some ‘hands-on’, restaurant management experience, who will help us inspire a young team and provide the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Our location next to Altrincham Market and its abundance of fantastic fresh produce will provide inspiration for the menu and daily specials. As such, you will have a keen interest in food and drink and a knowledge of European/Spanish cuisine and tapas.

The successful candidate will show exceptional organisational skills, thrive under pressure and get a kick out of running flawless shifts that run like clockwork.

There is potential for the right candidate to complete an initial ‘training’ period in our Chester restaurant before transferring to Altrincham for opening in the Autumn.

Salary for this position is negotiable with prior experience being taken into account.

ABOUT PORTA

The aim at Porta is to keep things really simple. A relaxed, informal environment inspired by the tiniest independent cafés, bars and tapas bars of Spain.

Cured meats and cheeses form the backbone of a menu that is a collection of plates to be enjoyed singularly with a glass of wine or combined to create something more substantial.

The menu is enthusiastically Iberian, representing many tapas bar classics. Joe works with his team of chefs tirelessly perfecting recipes for every sauce and menu item. From the croquetas and the bravas sauce to the chorizo & lentil stew, every item is handmade in-house.

Ben and Joe are hands-on operators, who are passionate about the industry and creating an enjoyable place to work.
